Oh standards, let’s talk about those

I am always amazed at how people proudly declare that they have standards. They are so quick to cut people off because they did or did not do ABCD. They are only letting in quality people only who can do or say no wrong. You go queen. Its good to have standards and boundaries. I am all for that. But can we talk about your own personal standards for a while? You say you would drink more water; you are on your 4th cup of coffee today and a diet coke on the side. You’ve been talking about waking up in the morning and going to the gym, come 5am, you are hitting the snooze button like your life depends on it. You say you will get something done tomorrow, tomorrow comes you are mostly binging on social media or you are on the 5th episode on your Netflix show.

So, if you are not able to hold yourself to your own standards maybe it’s time to recalibrate because the standards might be a little bit high.  The real glow up is having your non-negotiable personal standards. Stand ten toes deep in those standards. That no matter what, you will not bring that negative energy of I will not do what I need to get done. I am holding a mirror one everyone, my self-included and I am looking a tad guilty.

So today my prayer, Oh Lord, let me just sit down and get things done. Or maybe stand up and get sh$$ done with the energy of my toddler after a good nap. Before I cut some one off quicker than Netflix cuts off its best shows, may I remember I am not all that. And that I too I am a glorious, chaotic work of progress
